* There are a lot of metals used in the constructions industry and they can range from carbon steel, aluminum, copper tubing and stainless steel, each of these materials have their own qualities which are suitable for the construction industry. Take for instance carbon steel which is one alloy that is prized in the construction industry for its hardness and strength.
It is usually used to make beams for structural framework, plates for highway construction, and rectangular tubing for welded frames trailer beds, and bridges. Also, the reason Aluminium is used because it is resistant to corrosion which makes it the perfect material. It is also highly ductile and highly conductive. It’s mainly preferred for windows, doors, and wire, as well as outdoor signage and street lights.
When it comes to copper, tubing it is a metal that comes in two types. is often used to construct pipes in buildings. Rigid copper tubing is ideal for hot and cold tap water pipes in buildings.
So in short, the materials properties described above make them a perfect choice and all are durable, strong and corrosion resistant metals that are frequently applied in the building industry. These metals form everything from door frames and highways, to pipes and staircases.
New Vocabulary List;
- Axial Load: A load, in tension or compression, straight along a member.
- Alpha Brasses: 10-38 % zinc content, strong ,malleable and are golden yellow in color.
- Alpha-Beta Brasses: 38-46 % zinc content, stronger but more brittle than alpha brasses. Forming is possible only by castling or extrusion.
- Brass: Conteins 5-50 % zinc content harder and higher tensile strength the brass.
- Bending moment: Defined as (force x distance) it is a situation that tends to bend structural members. The strength of a steel member to resist bending is called its bending moment resistance. The amount that a member bends is its stiffness.
- Beam: Any member which can span a gap and resist loads in bending. In steel, such a beam is usually I shaped, with flanges top and bottom joined by a web.
- Galvanic Reaction Corrosion/ dissimilar metal corrosion: Careful selection of suitable materials to ensure that dissimilar metals are not in contact within the humid envvironment- water.
- Prop: Any vertical member which supports a frame and carries axial load downwards.

Where are the words of lecture 1? I found the 2nd and 3rd lecture words only... Please organize them properşy so that I can see clearly and fast.
Change the topic name to Metals..
Okay, I saw them.. Sorry..:))
